LAKAMA TRAVEL
Why do I connect people with soul stimulating, life enriching travel?  One exceptional moment experienced in Alaska solidified my decision to pursue this career.  That moment still resonates to this day, and is the basis for my goal for WOW moments on all trip itineraries I create.

Here's my story.

In August 1986, my Granny, mother and I flew up to Anchorage to begin our two week adventure.  Week one we explored the interior, week two we cruised the Inside Passage.   We spent a few days in Anchorage, several days in Denali, a day in Fairbanks and then followed the Alaskan pipeline to Glennallen back to Anchorage to catch the transfer to our cruise.

My exceptional moment, my "why",  happened in Denali, a national park that everyone should see at least once in their lifetime.  Mt. McKinley (renamed Denali in 2015) is the primary reason tourists come to the park, along with the opportunity to see abundant wildlife and spectacular natural settings.  We took the 90 mile bus trip to the end of the road at Kantishna so we could take all this in, and we were not disappointed.  Wonder Lake is near the turnaround area, and one can get off the bus here and walk to the turnaround spot.  Two of us decided to do this.   Once the bus was down the road, the lack of "noise" was deafening.  The only thing I heard was the screech of an eagle.  A grizzly was eating berries a few hundred yards in one direction, a caribou doing the same a few hundred yards the other direction. While Denali was covered in clouds, we knew the majestic mountain was there as her peak was just above the cloud line.   My WOW moment - an absolutely incredible moment in time.

"The things that matter most in our lives are not the things we have acquired
along the way but rather the treasure chest of moments, memories and
experiences shared with the people we love."
   (unknown author)

I left part of my soul in Denali.  To this day I remember the impact the silence, nature, wildlife and majestic mountain had on me.   An exclusive moment and memory of a lifetime - something I want my clients to experience on all their
travels.

A Little About Me
I had the good fortune of living in Germany, Switzerland and Hong Kong as a child.  My father worked for Goodyear International, which provided us the opportunity to explore Europe and parts of Asia.  Travel became a natural part of my life from an early age, and my passion for learning about, exploring and sharing information on exciting destinations, foods and cultures continues.

Alaska offered the first exclusive moment, but each trip I take leaves me with lifelong memories.  Here are ju
st a few.
The lapis penguin was picked up on my cruise from Santiago to Rio de Janeiro - a memory of Chile as this is where the lapis and the penguins are found.  It doubles as a fond memory of my trip into Torres del Paine Park and a reminder I need to go back again soon.  Patagonia is one of the most beautiful areas of the world.

The sting ray picture, which I got onboard the Paul Gauguin, is made from sand from all the Tahitian islands.  I joined my parents to help them celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The "real" sting ray that swam in between my legs on a snorkeling excursion is something I will never forget.

The abacus reminds me not only of the year I lived in Hong Kong but also of my return trip with friends.  To this day I still laugh remembering their facial expressions after showing them the (bizarre) foods on display in one of the food alleys!

These are just a few of my lifelong memories. I would be delighted to help you on yours!

My mission is simple: Connect you with soul stimulating,
life enriching travel so you can bring back the best
possible souvenirs:  Life long memories.
