Cafe Pesto is the island's longest standing Italian restaurant. It originally started as a pizzeria in 1988 in the quaint harbor town of Kawaihae, and added a second location in Hilo Bay. Café Pesto is a Zagat rated restaurant and enjoys a reputation for innovative pizzas.
Don's Grill has also been in Hilo since 1988. They are known for their American and Hawaiian cuisine and is a great place for families or a quick bite before catching a flight.

Lucy's Taqueria is an easygoing, family owned and operated Mexican restaurant. Lucy's has been open since 2012 and is the "little sister" to Gorditos Mexican Restaurant in Seattle.
Hilo Bay Café is all about gourmet comfort food. One of Hilo's more upscale restaurants, their waterfront location offers a new sushi bar along with beautiful ocean views. They are a winner of the 2015 Diner's Choice award.
