My first cruise was in 1986 to Alaska. That's me, my mom and grandmother taking in the stunning College Fjord. Three generations exploring the wild frontier! . I really discovered cruising, though, in 2000 and never looked back: Alaska (again), the Caribbean, Mexico, northern Europe and Norwegian fjords, the Greek Isles, the western Mediterranean, South America and Tahiti. And there are so many more places to experience. Needless to say, I love to cruise, for many of reasons including those outlined below. It is exciting to hear that cruising is becoming the vacation of choice these days, quickly outpacing land based travel. According to the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) 2016 State of the Cruise Industry Outlook, the industry shows no signs of slowing down with 24 million passengers expected to sail in 2016, up from 23 million in 2015. "Cruise lines are constantly updating their offerings and providing almost unlimited itinerary options for travelers so it comes as no surprise that cruise travel is outpacing alternative vacation experiences," said Cindy D'Aoust, CLIA's Acting CEO.
